A lesson from monkeys..

1 02 2008

One day, a monkey was placed in a room. This room had only two objects in it; a ladder and a banana on top of it. But on the rung just underneath the banana, there was a secret switch that electrocuted the activator with a medium jolt of electricity. The monkey didn’t know about this…until he stepped on the rung while trying to reach for the banana…the monkey quickly retreated down the ladder.

Then another monkey was placed in the room. Seeing the banana on top of the ladder, the monkey instinctively climbed the ladder in hopes to reach it. As a result, another fried monkey. This monkey too, retreated down the ladder.

The strange thing happened when a third monkey was placed inside the room. When it tried to run up the stairs, the two other monkeys dragged it back down. Communicating to him that danger lie ahead. So the monkey did what it was told. It stayed down. The same thing happened when a fourth monkey was placed inside the room. It got dragged down by the other three.

Then the first two monkeys was taken out of the room and a fifth monkey was placed inside it. When the fifth monkey began running up the ladder to reach it’s dreams (i mean, banana), it quickly was dragged down by the third and forth monkey. Remember, the third and fourth monkey didn’t even experience the jolt of electricity, but got the news of it from what their “predecessors” say.

Fellow entrepreneurs, as an observer of this story we could conclude that the first two monkeys abandoned their dreams (again, banana) after the first obstacle (electrocution), instead of finding away around it. The second phenomena is when the third fourth monkeys didn’t even get to face that challenge because the first two monkeys dragged them down. They gave up before actually doing it. The third phenomena is what happened to the fifth monkey. He didn’t pursue his banana because another monkey told it that another monkey said that you would get fried if you tried. go figure.

Fellow entrepreneurs…..we aren’t monkeys…..stop behaving like one……

I’m with you.
The “predecessor” monkeys giving the bad advise, instead of giving and finding ways to get their dream. Ha-ha..

But, once again, they re only monkeys.

It’s true that we should have faith that no one can dragged us down in reaching our dreams. BUT matter of fact, sometimes learning from other’s experience is much better than having one. We don’t have to take any disadvantage, in this case electrocution.

That’s a (real) good point, isn’t it?

p.s.
Yeaa, I believe there are always two sides in every single thing.
I think I could see the positive side from those monkeys..
Hohoho..=pp
